Events Overview

Events are how your church communicates what's happening — from weekly services to one-off gatherings.

What an event includes

  • Title and description
  • Event banner image (16:9 recommended)
  • Start and end date/time, plus an All Day toggle
  • Timezone (auto-detected from the device)
  • Location type — Physical, Virtual, or Hybrid
  • Venue name, country, state, city, street address
  • Optional GPS pin-drop on an OpenStreetMap picker
  • Virtual link + virtual platform (Zoom, YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Microsoft Teams, Other)
  • Max attendees (blank = unlimited)
  • Registration toggle + optional registration fee and payment link
  • Contact person, contact email, contact phone
  • Recurring pattern — None, Daily, Weekly, Every 2 weeks, Monthly, Yearly, with a "repeat until" end date
  • Church service toggle + service type (Sunday Service, Wednesday Service, Special, Other)

Viewing events

The Events screen has four filter chips:

  • Upcoming (default)
  • Live — happening right now
  • Past — already ended
  • All

You can switch between a list view and a calendar view, and a search icon lets you filter by title, description, venue, or category.

Global events

If your plan includes Global Events, a scope toggle appears at the top of the create form (Church Event / Global Event). Global events are visible across every church in the network — useful for denomination-wide gatherings. A separate Organized Global Events screen lists the global events your church has created.

Event status

Status is derived automatically from the dates:

  • Upcoming — start time is in the future
  • Live — now is between start and end
  • Completed — end time has passed
  • Cancelled — admin cancelled the event

Cancelling an event is done from the event card (long-press) or the event detail screen. Registered attendees see the cancellation.

Check-in

Every event has a built-in proximity check-in. The admin starts a check-in session from the event detail screen, and members whose phones are nearby with the Member app open get automatically checked in — no QR codes, no line at the door.

See Manage Registrations for how the full check-in flow works.
